Title

Jump & Run - Detecting Motion-Patterns with the iPhone.

Summary

Recent smartphones are equipped with sensors and rich functionality that allow for applications that go far beyond the mere use of the device for mobile telephony. Specifically, the iPhone has various sensors for light, position, acceleration, and furthermore provides WLAN and GPS.

Goals

This work provides an experimental analysis of using sensors intergated in the iPhone, in particular the built-in accelration sensor, to deliver information for an analysis of motion patterns to differentiate, for example, between ordinary walking, running, and stair climbing. Ideally, this project results in a Smartphone-App that records daily motion patterns of a user.
